Nancy Carolyn McKannan, 85, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully at her home January 23rd surrounded by loved ones. Carolyn was born November 21, 1934 in Huntsville AL to Clarence Allen and Elsie Jones Allen. She was a member of University Church of the Nazarene. Carolyn was a guiding force, a mighty prayer warrior, and precious soul. Her special gifts were singing and sending cards and letters of celebration and support to family and friends. Over the years Carolyn took many people into her life and made them family. Once she took you in you were never forgotten and were there to stay. Most important she loved her Jesus, her family and her cats.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Eugene McKannan; son David McKannan and her parents Clarence Allen and Elsie Jones Allen. She is survived by her sons Michael McKannan (Linda) of Woodville and Jonathon McKannan (Lisa) of Huntsville; daughters Regina Ramsey (Terry) of Arab and Debra Campbell (Tony) of Grant; brother John Robert Allen (Judy) of Georgia; sisters Janet Calhoun of Arab, Mary Elizabeth Tillery of Huntsville, Ellen Pike (Bill) of NC and June Hubbard of Northport; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews as well as an extended family.
Visitation for Mrs. McKannan will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Hampton Cove Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm. She will lay in state for 1 hour before her service. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at University Church of the Nazarene at 11 am with the Rev. Richard Prince officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason England, Daniel England, Ryan McKannan, Travis Holloman, Jonathon McKannan, Graeme McKannan, Zachary Ramsey, Kenny Spencer & Bryon England. Mrs. McKannan will be buried at Hampton Cove Cemetery next to her husband Eugene Charles McKannan. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in her memory to the ALS Association-Alabama Chapter, American Cancer Society, Cancer Research Institute and Downtown Rescue Mission.
