Carolyn Lyle Wright,80, died on Monday, February 1. She was born December 16, 1940, to Henry Thomas Lyle and Virginia Camp Lyle in Nichols, Florida. She married the love of her life, Bruce Wright, in September, 1960, and they enjoyed 59 years together, wishing they had another 59 years. Bruce recalls the first time he saw her and thinking he had never seen such a beautiful woman. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother and father; and daughter, Terri Wright Derrough.
Carolyn, also known as MeeMee, is survived by her husband, Bruce Wright; daughter, Karen Wright Hangartner (Scott); grandchildren, Alan Hangartner (Carol Ann), Jonathan Hollis, Lawson Hangartner (Angelique), Haley Hangartner, and Mary Caroline Derrough; and three great-granddaughters, Addie, Sophie, and Olivia.
Carolyn worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Libraries at Auburn University for ten years. She went on to work at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the University of Alabama in Birmingham before retiring to own an antique business and devote herself to being MeeMee to her five grandchildren. Carolyn was known as an excellent hostess, inviting people to into her home, and making them feel welcomed.
Hampton Cove Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm on Thursday, February 4, at Hampton Cove Funeral Home, and the funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be in Hampton Cove Cemetery. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations to Free To Teach,https://free-2-teach.org/ and the National Children's Advocacy Center, https://www.nationalcac.org. Both of these organizations represent the life's work of her daughters.
