He was affectionately known to his grandchildren as "Papaw". He was beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He will be sorely missed.
Jim was a dedicated Little League baseball and football coach as his sons grew up.
It was rare through the years for him to ever miss a ball game, band concert, choral concert, track and field event, PTA program or other activities in which his children and grandchildren were a participant. Some of the happiest hours of his life were spent at those events. In short, he was a good caring, hard working, dedicated, and loving person. Jim gave his all to everything he ever did.
Jim began his engineering career in Bethpage, Long Island, NY with Sperry Rand Corporation. When he got an offer from Honeywell to move back South to Huntsville, Alabama, he left New York and happily spent the rest of his life here. He also worked at Teledyne Brown and retired as the manager of the Computer Systems Engineering Department at Tec-Masters. Some of his proudest accomplishments through the years were the work he contributed to the Space Shuttle, the Patriot Missile Defense program, and the Theatre High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program. In his leisure time he loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and watch his beloved University of Miami sports, especially football.
Jim and Terry enjoyed traveling during their retirement years. They traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, the Western National Parks of the USA, Europe, and also took several Caribbean cruises.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Terry, of nearly 58 years, his children, Jimmy, Bob, and Kathy, and his 8 grandchildren.
