Charles Elliott Wayne (Chuck) died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Chuck and Jo Lynn were wed June 17, 1961 and raised a family that was their greatest blessing and lasting legacy. Chuck and Jo Lynn's children and family, include Son, Michael Wayne and grandson Christopher; Son, Stephen Wayne and his wife, Shawna Feeley and grandchildren, Dillon and Jackson; Daughter, Cherie Harris and her husband, Jamey Harris and grandchildren, Jake and Webb; Chuck's sister-in-law, Debbie Craig and her children, Carol and Scott; and Chuck's sister-in-law, Kathy Johnson.
Chuck graduated from Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. He began his career at Douglas Aircraft, on the west coast, as an aeronautical engineer. Chuck then moved with his family to Huntsville, Alabama where he worked for numerous aerospace companies. He concluded his career of 43 years as a program manager in Ballistic Missile Defense, at Lockheed Martin.
During retirement, he devoted his time and energy to his family and friends. Chuck was an avid golfer, sailor, wood worker, gardening enthusiast and civic activist. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in the auditorium Friday, July 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hampton Cove Funeral Home and to Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The "Rite of the Burial Mass" will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Saturday, July 17th at 10:30 AM. Following the Mass, Interment will proceed to the Good Shepherd Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to honor his memory may make donations to the Good Shepherd Future Fund or Catholic Family Services.
