Cynthia “Cyndee” Rhodes Brodie, 74 died at home on July 24, 2023.
She was born and raised in Birmingham, AL and later moved to Huntsville, AL.
She was the first woman to own the Huntsville Speedway from 1984 – 1986.
She moved and lived in Knoxville, TN for over 20 years, until moving back to Huntsville in 2020.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Herron Wayne (Buster) Thornton, Her second husband, John Brodie. Both parents Joe & Red Rhodes, sister Lully Rhodes, both sets of in laws, Hershel & Dera Thornton and John and Joyce Brodie.
She is survived by two sons Chris Thornton (Barbara) Harvest, AL. Brandon Thornton (Donna) Big Cove, AL. Two grandchildren, Austin Thornton, Big Cove, AL, and Sierra Thornton, Huntsville, AL, Brother Pat Rhodes, Birmingham, AL, sister Kelly Rhodes, Owens Cross Roads, AL.
Brother-in-law Grady Thornton (Laura) Helena, AL. Sister-in-law Babs Brodie (Tom Gately) Huntsville, AL.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her constant companion of 15 years Rozee, the bulldog.
She has left behind many longtime friends Dianne Rayfield, Scarf Club members (Cindy Cone, Patsy Hudson, Lisa Hayes), Melissa Mayes, Joe Taylor, and Jimmy Anderson.
