Elliott Rumer Obituary

Elliott Dale Rumerr, 92, of Huntsville, AL, known to most as Pete, parted this life in the early hours of Friday, April 9, 2021. Born September 18, 1928, in Keyser, WV, son of William Rumer and Wilma Wilhide, he lived a long, happy and full life. He was a devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen, who died in 2011. He is survived by two children, a son, Randall Rumer of Renick, WV, a daughter, Nancy Rumer Hunter of Huntsville, AL, two grandchildren, Ashley Cabra and Aaron Keen and two great grandchildren.

Pete went to work at the Kelly Springfield Tire factory, Cumberland, MD in 1945 and retired in 1985. He served the US Army 1952 to 1954. After retirement he spent over 20 years building and repairing golf clubs and running a golf shop. He loved golf, bowling, his family, and was a friend to many.

Pete enjoyed people and made many friends wherever he lived. He and Kathleen moved to the Huntsville area in 2009 to be closer to their grandchildren.

There will be a small family service and Pete will be laid to rest beside his wife at Hampton Cove Cemetery. In lieu of visitation and flowers the family asks that you remember Pete by finding something truly enjoyable to do for the day, remind someone that you love them, and embrace life.
