Erika Therese Holt

Erika Therese Holt, 45, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, made her journey to heaven on November 15, 2022. While she had been fighting stage 4 melanoma for the last 3 years, her passing was due to complications of pneumonia. 

Erika was born in Skokie, IL on April 17, 1977. She graduated from Northern Illinois University and received a bachelor’s degree of science in Biology. She used her degree to teach at both the middle and high-school levels. In her most recent role, Erika taught biomedical and biology sciences at New Century Technology High School. She furthered her education with a master’s degree in Counseling in 2020 with the goal of transitioning from teaching to helping and fostering safe environments for children who were struggling. Erika was a devoted Christian and attended a local Church of Christ. 

Erika was married to Michael (Mike) Holt for 11 years. She met him while living in Nashville, TN. And while she was smitten with his good looks, She was secretly trying to find and marry Kenny Chesney.  

Erika is survived by her husband, Mike, son of Bill and Jeanne Holt; children, Bryce Holt (18), Braden Holt (15), and Houston Holt (8); parents, Debra Lebbin (Richard), and Robert Voltl; sisters, Nicole Merryman (Jason), Bridget Schroeder (Rob), Richard Lebbin (Kasia), and Chelsea Becker (Frank). 
 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Hampton Cove Funeral Home in Owens Cross Roads, AL. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home. In addition, Erika’s family will host a celebration of life in the near future in Wisconsin.
