My family knew him for over 50 years. A wonderful person to talk with and great friend to my parents. Loved scuba diving with him and Dad loved working on cars and projects with him

Erwin was one of the founding members of the SCUBA Club, MARS Poseidons. He and my Daddy, Melvin Simms, were the primary ones who maintained the club’s equipment. They kept meticulous records and always ensured that everyone had the necessary equipment for their club-sponsored dives. I believe he also provided support in the Neutral Bouyancy Tank. I have many memories of him: trips to the Cay Sal Banks, sailing/diving in Bimini, and numerous checkout dives in quarries and the Gulf. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Erwin was a very intelligent, accomplished, and interesting guy. I was really impressed to see the framed plaques in his office showing the missions from NASA that he had been a part of. Proud to say he was my brother-in-law.
