Gerlene Ruth Tolomei, a beacon of unwavering faith and love, passed away peacefully at her residence in Huntsville, Alabama, on March 2, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on January 6, 1937, in Cullman, Alabama, to Leroy and Ruth Millican Reynolds, Gerlene grew to be a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by her devotion to her family, her Kingdom Hall, and her community. Gerlene's journey through life was marked by her enduring strength and the joy she found in her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Leigh-Ann (Geoff) Dickson and Donald (Marilyn) Hogeland. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Savannah Glenn Woodall, Keaton Wayne Leathers, Jacob Nunley, Bryan (Amanda) Hogeland, Christine (Roberto) Rossi, Ryan M. Dickson, and Renee M. The recent arrival of her great-great-grandchild, Bennett Black, brought her immense joy. Gerlene's brother, Bobby Reynolds, fondly recalls the treasured moments they shared. Gerlene was preceded in death by her two loving husbands, Harold Glenn Hogeland and Domenico Tolomei; her parents; brothers, Dwain and Ronnie Reynolds, and sisters, Dixie Thrower and Jeanette Graul. Each of these individuals played a significant role in the beautiful tapestry of her life. A faithful member of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Huntsville, Gerlene's deep-rooted beliefs were evident in every aspect of her life. Her faith-filled spirit shone brightly, not only within the walls of her church but also in the kindness and grace she extended to all who knew her. Gerlene's unwavering trust in her faith was a source of inspiration and comfort to her family and friends. Gerlene's life was one of purpose and passion. She embraced her roles with enthusiasm, whether she was sharing wisdom with her children, spoiling her grandchildren, or imparting love to her great-grandchildren. Her presence was a warm embrace, her laughter a familiar melody, and her guidance a steady hand to those she loved. In remembering Gerlene, we recall a woman of formidable character, a matriarch who stood as the heart of her family. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit. She modeled for us all how to live a life filled with purpose, dignity, and grace.
