Hector New Obituary

Mr. Hector Kuchler New passed away January 7, 2023 in Boquete Chiriqui Provence, Republic of Panama. Hector was born on May 8, 1940 in David, Panama to Mr. Nestor Kuchler and Teresa Rios. When they divorced, Ms. Rios the married Euell David New, who was working in the Panama Canal Zone. Mr. New adopted Hector in 1948, and in 1954, Hector and his family moved to Dermott, Arkansas. He attended Dermott High School where he was an outstanding running back, and served as Captain of the football team, as well as Captain of the track team. Following his high school graduation, he attended the University of Arkansas in Montecello, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Business Economics. He went on to earn two Master Degree's in Public Administration from the University of Puget Sound in Olympia, WA., and Pacific Lutheran University. After graduating College, he entered the U.S. Army where he served in Active Duty for 24 years. During his extensive military career, Hector provided direct healthcare and personnel management experience at several multi-institutional healthcare facilities, including Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA., Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX., Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., as well as several smaller Hospitals. Mr. New retired from the Army in 1989, yet continued to work in the private healthcare sector within the Huntsville area. He was the administrator of the Alabama Neuro Medical Pain  Center in Decatur, AL., Administrator of the Alabama Pain Center in Huntsville, AL., Director of Business Development for MedShares in the Memphis, TN. area, and Field Administrator for the Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Co. in Huntsville, AL. Mr. New was a member of the Military Officers Association at Redstone Arsenal and Rotary International in Boquete, Panama. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL.

Mr. New is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kay, as well as his children; Gigi Sadler (Nick), Natalie McCoy Taylor and Jeffrey McCoy (Dawn). He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Spencer McCoy, Parker McCoy, Cooper Sadler and Maddie Taylor, and 2 great grandchildren, Kayden Floyd and Nekai McCoy, as well as his sister Dorie Kuchler. Hector is preceded in death by his parents, Euell David New and Teresa Rios New, and his brothers David New and Norman New. 

Hector's personal motto from High School was "The man that loves and laughs must surely do well."  Hector got ahead in life by helping others succeed. He believed that a positive attitude was the key to a happy life, and he lived what he preached! His personal and professional accomplishments have made his family extremely proud and his positivity will live on thru those he leaves behind.

Hector leaves this message for his family and friends: "Please believe me, trust in the Lord with all you have, and he will sustain you through this time of grief".

A private family memorial service will be held for Mr. New on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Hampton Cove Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made in honor of Mr. New to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Disabled American Veterans.
