Marion Bernice (Gubala) Merrell

Marion Bernice Merrell (Gubala), 78 of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama passed away peacefully on 1/18/2022. Marion grew up in Chicago, graduated from Alvernia High School and attended Loyola University. She moved with her family to Washington state and married her husband of 36 years, James Merrell in 1967. She had 3 children before relocating to Huntsville in 1987. She was active in the Huntsville Community Ballet Assn. and Buck's Canyon Garden Club. She was a parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Marion loved to cook and entertain and generously hosted large gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Thomas. She is survived by her three children Ryan (Cory), Lisa (Scott) and Maria (Giles) and her 8 grandchildren: Hank, James, George, Eli, Pete, Lauren, Josephine, and Hal; and her sister, Kathleen (Lowell). The family will host a private burial service. A funeral Mass will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday, March 12th at 10 am, with a reception at Stovehouse - The Shed (private space) from 11:30 am-4 pm.
