Nedelya Ganeva Staneva, a loving matriarch and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, in Gurley, Alabama. Having been born on February 25, 1931, in Sadina, Bulgaria, she lived a vibrant life, radiating love and true faith to everyone who crossed her path.
She loved the Lord and was very faithful to her church. She was strong in faith and prayer; very compassionate and giving to others. She will truly be missed by all those whose lives she touched with her radiant personality and loving nature.
She was strong spirited, had a contagious smile that would light up the room, believed in God’s providence and never complained about anything. She was the secretary for the city administration in Russe, Bulgaria and later became a book binder for Progress where she enjoyed working with her hands. She extended her nurturing nature beyond her family, sharing her love for children by lending her talents and time in local pre-schools, inspiring young minds with her wisdom and caring.
Nedelya came to the United States to be nearer to her loved ones that had settled here. Her godly character influenced and impacted the lives of those around her despite the language barriers present in the States. The language of love, after all, is universal and Nedelya spoke it fluently. Her strong spirit was always on display even in her simple acts of saying a blessing for those who visited her. Clearly, she was an epitome of benevolence.
Her loving memory will be cherished by her daughter, Tatyana Ivanova; granddaughters, Neli (John) Howard and Maya (Aaron) Gregory; six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ganyo Ganchev and Maria Markova Gancheva; brother, Peter Ganchev, and son, Milen Ivanov.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Hampton Cove Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Britton Cemetery in Hazel Green. Elder John Howard will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 PM until the service time.
Hampton Cove Funeral Home is honored to serve the Staneva Family.
