homas Franklin Monroe, age 77, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away at his home on Saturday February 10th, 2024, with his wife Denise by his side.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Beth Monroe, and his sister Susan Monroe Miller, his brother in law Tommy Yother, and his beloved dog Shelby. He is survived by his wife Denise Yother Monroe, brother in law Greg Yother, sister in law Monica Yother, nephews and niece, Cory (Stephanie) Yother, Zack (Brianna) Yother, Evan Yother, Erin Yother, and great nieces Remi Blake Yother and Rylee Shea Yother.
Tom was one of the most important pioneers of all flying disc sports and was known as “The Johnny Appleseed of Disc Golf”. When asked what he most wants to be remembered for he said “ I always wanted people to remember that I brought a smile to their face”.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 25th at Straight to Ale at Campus 805. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 with the service starting at 2:00. There will be frisbee games on the lawn and visiting with friends. Dress is casual.
