Wesley Burgiel

Wesley (Wiesław) Burgiel, 77, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023 after battling Parkinson’s for several years. He was surrounded by family. Wes was born in Poland on January 20, 1946 and immigrated to the United States in 1974, settling in the Huntsville area in 1987. He worked as a civil engineer until his retirement in 2009, having obtained his higher education at Politechnika Krakowska (Kraków University of Technology) in Poland. Wes was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with his family and adored his five granddaughters. He will be remembered as a wonderful, kind, funny, smart, and gentle man. Wes is survived by his loving wife, Dorota, and their two sons, Michael and Mark, his daughters-in-law, Brenna and Allison, and his granddaughters, Phaedra, Calliope, Eleanor, Vivienne, and Izabela. He is also survived by his sister, Zofia Burgiel, brother, Marek Burgiel, sister-in-law Krystina Burgiel, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Catholic mass will be held in honor of Wes on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL at 10:30 am, with private cremation to follow.
